The Joys And Sorrows Of Building

Anyone who has contemplated building their own house will know the excitement and thrill of imagining what it is going to be like, of course the reality and challenge of the actual build is quite another experience! Continuing our latest series, ‘Jesus Is Building His Church and We Are Co-Labourers With Him’ Pastor Charles Fleming preaches a message entitled: ‘The Joys And Sorrows Of Building’ looking at God’s priorities for building. We naturally start getting excited by our own imaginings of what God wants to build, both in our relationships in the community of the Church, and in undertaking any communal practical project that God directs us into as His people, but the only way that we will know more joy than sorrow is if we are willing to sacrifice our own preferences and dreams to God and take up what He values instead – His ideals are clearly revealed in Ezra 3:2 where the altar, the place of sacrifice is the first thing that God requires before anything else can be effectively built. Are we willing to sacrifice our dreams, our preferences, our desires on God’s altar so that we can take up only what He values to build?
